Mother Nature is Looking for Attention
“ I get up every morning well before dawn. I love this time of the day, the darkness before daybreak, the quiet before the birds wake up and the stillness. I have been noticing over the past couple of years that the sunrises have been more spectacular. Every morning they are different. The glow of the bit of sun on the horizon an hour before the sun comes up, comes in a variety of colours, Pale pinks, peaches, streaks of blue..sometimes with an eerie fog. It is a painting every morning and I am struck with awe. I then consider “ Is this display in the morning different than years past or is it just I take time to notice, or is it a bit of both?”
My feeling is Mother Nature is calling me, calling all of us to notice. The beauty of the moment, the beauty of the dawn of a new day. I think she is adding some extended colours, or maybe I would like to think that. What I think and what the reality is, does not matter. What I know, is Mother Nature is painting to make us notice.
She also does this at sunset, this time the shades are brilliant reds or oranges and sometimes even purples streaks as the sun sets behind the maples and ash trees at our farm, illuminating them from behind as she sinks out of site. The deciduous trees are stark dark sentinels against the backdrop of the snowy landscape. This provides more depth to the view behind as the sun lowers. There is a sensation of expansiveness in the landscape this time of the year as my view is so much deeper. There have been times that I have stopped in simple wonder of the moment. I then spot a horse backlit by this display of colour while the trees seem gathered in strong reverence. It all feels so circular. I am struck with a sense of awe and a sense of being connected to it all. This feeling of being a part, a part of something so much bigger. Mother Nature pulling at me, look, pay attention.
I think about Mother Nature as the connectedness of us all but also as our Divine Matriarch. I think she is really trying to get our attention and tell us something
In the human world we are mired in conflict and divisiveness. Humanity seems to be disconnected from the planet and from each other. Conversations lack nuance as people dig in to choose a side. There is an alarming rise in right wing populism lead by dark masculine energy. Peoples fears are being preyed upon and amplified. There is so much anger. In the natural world the climate is changing causing fires, floods and wild fluctuations in weather. It is not subtle. It feels like the planet is trying to shake us off or shake us up.
Nature seems to have turned up the volume. She has not only amplified her beauty but she is also showing us her power. It is a strong feminine power. It does not feel like conflict. It feels like strong light. I feel she wants us to move in her direction
As I walk out into our herd of horses I notice the nature around us. I stop and pause and let it envelop me as the horses move around me. I take it all in. I breathe into my body and feel the ground under my feet. As I do this the horses come closer, I feel their soft energy, I hear their breath, I smell the air around them.
I feel the connection to them, the earth and to everything.
The answer is here.
